In a tragic incident in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar city, four minor girls lost their lives after venturing into Bor Talav, a man-made lake, for a bath. The incident occurred on Tuesday when five minors, aged between 9 to 17 years, accompanied a woman to the lakeside for washing clothes.
Chief Fire Officer Pradyumnasinh Jadeja reported that while the woman was occupied with her chores, the minors decided to take a dip in the lake. Unfortunately, the fun outing turned into a disaster as all five girls began to drown in the water.
Upon receiving the distress call at around 12.20 pm, a rescue team was swiftly dispatched to the scene. Despite their best efforts, only one 12-year-old girl could be saved and rushed to a nearby government hospital for medical attention.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of four young girls, identified as Aryanaben Dabhi (17), Kajal (12), Rashi (9), and her sister Komal (13). Heartbreakingly, the rescued girl is the sibling of the two sisters who tragically drowned in the lake.
The local authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident, while the community mourns the loss of these young lives in Bhavnagar. Such incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of water safety and supervision, especially when children are involved.
