A 16-year-old teenager has been taken into custody in connection with a carjacking incident that occurred in East San Jose. The juvenile, whose identity has been withheld due to legal reasons, was apprehended on May 15 and subsequently held at the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of carjacking. The specific charges related to the case have not been disclosed as it is being handled in juvenile court.

The incident took place in the early hours of April 4, when authorities received a report of a carjacking at a residence on Gay Avenue, located just east of North Capitol Avenue. According to reports, a group of four individuals approached a vehicle parked in the driveway and proceeded to break the driver’s side window, triggering the car’s alarm. The teenage suspect, who was later identified as the primary perpetrator, noticed the residents of the home observing him through a front window. He then proceeded to issue threats, warning them not to exit the premises or face potential harm.

Footage from a Ring camera capturing the encounter was released by the police, showing the teenager with his hands concealed in his hoodie. While it remains unclear whether he brandished a firearm, the suspect can be heard making multiple threats of violence, including the alarming statement, “Do not lose your life over a f—-ing car!”

Upon further investigation, law enforcement officials were able to confirm the 16-year-old as the main suspect in the carjacking incident. Following his arrest in San Jose, a search of his residence led to the discovery of a semiautomatic handgun. However, it has not been confirmed whether the teenager was in possession of the firearm at the time of the alleged carjacking.
