A devastating incident unfolded in Gilroy as a man tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle, as reported by the Gilroy Police Department.
The Gilroy PD received a distressing call regarding a car colliding with a pedestrian on No Name Uno, near St. Louise Regional Hospital, at approximately 12:23 a.m. on Sunday. Upon their swift arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive pedestrian lying on the roadway.
Witnessing the distressing scene, a passing nurse promptly halted her journey to provide aid. Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after the incident.
The vehicle involved in the collision was being driven by a minor, who remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the tragic accident.
The deceased has been identified as a 32-year-old resident of Gilroy. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
