In a tragic incident that shook the Greenville community, a man is set to face trial for the shooting that resulted in the deaths of a young mother and a security guard at a nightclub in the city.
The incident took place in July 2020 at Lavish Lounge on White Horse Road, where rapper Foogiano was performing. A fight erupted during the performance, leading to gunfire that left 10 people injured. Among the victims were 23-year-old Mykala Bell and security guard Clarence Johnson, who tragically lost their lives that night.
Authorities from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the shooting was sparked by a confrontation between a member of Foogiano’s entourage, who reportedly displayed a gang sign to someone in the crowd.
The alleged shooter, identified as Jarquez Cooper, is facing charges of two counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
Jarquez Cooper’s trial is scheduled to commence on Monday at 9:30 a.m., where the prosecution will present evidence and witness testimonies in an effort to seek justice for the victims and their families.
