Accident – Death – Obituary News :

San Leandro police have confirmed the arrest of a teenage suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred at a Safeway store in early April. The incident resulted in the death of 18-year-old Zion Gooden.

On April 2, officers responded to a call at the Safeway store on Bancroft Avenue regarding a stabbing. Gooden was found with stab wounds to his arm and chest and was rushed to the hospital. Despite efforts to save him, Gooden passed away later that evening.

Surveillance footage and witness interviews revealed that a dispute between Gooden and a 13-year-old juvenile led to a physical altercation, during which the teen allegedly stabbed Gooden with a knife.

The suspect was apprehended at his school in a neighbouring jurisdiction, and a search of his residence uncovered evidence linking him to the crime. The Alameda County District Attorney’s office has filed criminal charges against the juvenile, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his age.

Although an arrest has been made, the police are seeking additional information about the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Sergeant J. Vincent at 510-577-3315 or leave an anonymous tip at 510-577-3278. Tips can also be sent via text to 888777 (keyword: TipSLPolice).
