BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — Tragedy struck on Interstate 75 in Bartow County as four individuals lost their lives in a devastating crash. The incident occurred on the southbound lanes at around 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, leaving the community in mourning.

The Bartow County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as 43-year-old Dakarai Mason, 35-year-old Erin Mason, 15-year-old Brandon Crawford, and 21-year-old Aimee Odom. All of the deceased were residents of Cartersville, Georgia.

In addition to the fatalities, five individuals sustained injuries in the collision. Their identities and current conditions have not been disclosed to the public.

According to Georgia State Patrol reports, the tragic chain of events began when a Kia van travelling northbound on I-75 veered off the road and crossed the grass median into the southbound lanes.

The van collided with a Chevy Tahoe, a Toyota 4Runner, and a commercial truck. A Hyundai SUV also became involved in the accident when it hit the rear of the Tahoe.

The Masons, Crawford, and Odom, who were in the van and 4Runner respectively, lost their lives at the scene of the crash. Emergency responders airlifted the driver of the Tahoe to receive medical treatment. Additionally, two children from the van and an adult and child from the Hyundai SUV were transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the van crossing over into the southbound lanes, and further details are awaited.
