Anis Awadhiya : Porsche Teen Drinking Scandal: Father Knew, Pune Teen’s Confession

Pune: The teenage driver involved in the tragic accident that claimed the lives of two software engineers in Pune has made shocking revelations to the authorities. The minor confessed that his father was fully aware of his drinking habits and still allowed him access to a grey Porsche, despite lacking proper driver’s training and a valid license. Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari at Yerwada Police Station has filed an FIR, which revealed that the father not only knew about his son’s underage drinking but also permitted him to attend parties where alcohol was consumed.

Moreover, a CCTV footage circulating on social media shows the 17-year-old consuming alcohol with his friends at Cosie bar. The video was reportedly captured moments before the fatal accident occurred. It was alleged that the teenager was celebrating his Class 12 results with his friends, surrounded by alcohol bottles. The teenager is just four months away from turning 18.

Juvenile Granted Bail in Record Time

Concerns have been raised regarding the swift bail granted to the juvenile within 15 hours of the incident by the juvenile court, under certain conditions. The court ordered the teenager to familiarize himself with traffic regulations and collaborate with the Traffic Police for a period of 15 days. Additionally, he was tasked with writing a 300-word essay on the societal implications of road accidents and possible solutions.

The court justified its decision by stating that the offence was not severe enough to justify denying bail to the juvenile, who allegedly has connections to VVIPs.

Furthermore, the court mandated the teen to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and undergo rehabilitation at a de-addiction facility. He was also required to deliver a presentation on traffic laws before the Juvenile Justice Board, with an emphasis on assisting future road accident victims.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy

The fatal accident occurred on Sunday when a speeding luxury car driven by the teenager collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of two individuals in Pune. The incident took place around 3.15 am in Kalyani Nagar as a group of friends, returning home after a party at a local restaurant, were on their motorbikes.

At the Kalyani Nagar junction, the speeding luxury car struck one of the motorcycles, causing both riders to fall and perish on the spot, as per the FIR.

Following the collision, the car crashed into the roadside railing. A video surfaced on social media showing a group of individuals attacking the driver as he attempted to exit the wrecked vehicle.

The deceased victims were identified as Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa in the FIR.

A case was registered against the car driver at the Yerawada police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 304A (causing death by negligent act), 337 (causing hurt by rash or negligent act endangering life), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life), and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
