A 17-year-old teenager has been apprehended in Uttar Pradesh after a video surfaced showing him voting multiple times in the Farrukhabad Lok Sabha constituency. The individual, identified as the son of Khiri Pamaran village gram pradhan and BJP member Anil Singh Thakur, was caught on camera casting votes on an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) for BJP candidate Mukesh Rajput using various ID cards.
Chief Electoral Officer recommends repolling
Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has suggested that a repolling be conducted at the voting station where the incident took place. An FIR has been lodged under various sections, including those related to breaching voting secrecy. The complaint was lodged by the Samajwadi Party candidate Naval Kishor Shakya.

The video, which is two minutes and 19 seconds long, captures the teenager voting for the same candidate multiple times during the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 13. The boy can be seen using different ID cards to cast votes for Mukesh Rajput, with the VVPAT machine printing slips bearing the BJP party symbol.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate the electoral process and urged election officers to uphold their constitutional duties. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav condemned the incident, labeling the BJP’s booth committee as a “loot committee.”
Claims of innocence
Anil Singh Thakur, the father of the teenager, claimed that his son was participating in a voting machine test and that the video was edited to exclude the part where the boy was allegedly voting on behalf of mentally and physically disabled individuals in the village.
