A 42-year-old man has been apprehended in connection with the brutal murder of three family members in Maladeniya, Nalla, Gampaha in the early hours of the morning. The victims, a 42-year-old man, his 80-year-old father, and 77-year-old mother, were tragically found dead in their home.

The arrest was made by a diligent team of officers from the Nalla Police Station who stopped and searched a suspicious individual riding a bicycle. Upon inspection, they noticed blood stains on the suspect’s clothing and discovered a substantial amount of cash amounting to Rs. 255,620, along with a gold necklace and two gold rings in his possession. Additionally, a knife was found on the suspect.

Further investigation led the officers to a political party membership card dating back to 2002. This crucial piece of evidence eventually led them to the residence of the suspect in Bangadeniya, Chilaw. It was at this location that the gruesome discovery of the deceased family members was made.

The suspect, a resident of Bangadeniya, has been taken into police custody for questioning and is currently being held by the Nalla Police as investigations into the triple homicide continue.
