Search and Discovery
On May 17, deputies from the MCSO rushed to the park located in the 15000 block of North Highway 1 near Fort Bragg following a call for assistance from California State Parks officers. The missing individual, identified as 76-year-old Gregory Noyes from Point Arena, had been reported missing to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office on May 15. His vehicle was found parked at the entrance of the park, prompting the search operation.
Tragic End
During the search, a significant clue was found near the cliff edge – a large-brimmed hat that belonged to Noyes. Subsequently, his lifeless body was discovered approximately 50 feet below the cliff edge, resting on the rocks by the Pacific Ocean. The deputies and officers carefully descended the cliff and confirmed Noyes’ identity through his California Driver’s License. His next-of-kin were promptly informed of the devastating news.
Cause of Death
Investigations revealed that Noyes had suffered severe injuries consistent with a fall from the cliff to the rocks below. The MCSO stated that there were no signs of foul play, leading to the conclusion that the fall was most likely accidental.
