WICOMICO COUNTY, MD– Maryland State Police (MSP) are currently investigating a devastating multi-vehicle collision that occurred near Fruitland, Maryland. The incident, which resulted in fatalities, took place in the early hours of the morning on May 19 on US 13 south of St. Luke’s Road.
According to authorities, the crash involved a head-on collision between a 2013 Dodge Durango and a 2016 Subaru Impreza. Tragically, the occupants of the Subaru, identified as 21-year-old Dean Alexander Dennison and 20-year-old Sierra Rain Merchant, both hailing from New York, lost their lives at the scene of the accident. A 1-year-old child who was also in the Subaru was rushed to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional for medical treatment.
The driver of the Dodge, 59-year-old Jay Richard Bynum, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for further medical attention. Maryland State Police have been in communication with the Wicomico County District Attorney’s Office regarding the incident, and potential charges may be forthcoming as the investigation unfolds.
