Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Hubballi, May 19: The Karnataka Police took action on Saturday by suspending Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) P. Rajeev for alleged negligence in handling the case of 20-year-old Anjali Ambigera, who was brutally stabbed to death by a youth at her residence in the Veerapur Oni area of Hubballi in the early hours of Wednesday.

The tragic incident also saw Ambigera’s minor sister attempting to take her own life by consuming poison, as a protest against the perceived negligence of the police in the case. Fortunately, the girl was rushed to the hospital and is now reported to be out of danger.

Following the incident, Savita Sawanth, the mother of the accused youth, Vishwa alias Girish, made a statement claiming that her son had not been home for the past six months. She expressed her reluctance to see him or seek bail for him, stating that she would leave the decision to the court to determine his punishment.

It was revealed that Ambigera’s family had previously alerted the police about the threats their daughter had been receiving from the accused, who was described as a jilted lover. However, their concerns were allegedly not taken seriously by the authorities. In response to this, the Police Department also suspended Inspector Chandrashekar Chikkodi and Head Constable Rekha of the Bendigeri police station for their negligence in the matter.

Such incidents highlight the importance of prompt and effective action by law enforcement agencies in cases of violence and threats, especially against women. The suspension of the police officers involved serves as a reminder of the accountability that is expected in ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
