Four members of a family have been arrested this week on suspicion of committing a string of retail thefts across Riverside, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles counties. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to be over £5,000, authorities have revealed.

The investigation began on April 24, when Riverside County Sheriff’s Department detectives were called to a business on Temecula Parkway. It was reported that multiple suspects had stolen approximately £1,000 worth of merchandise from the store, located in a bustling area with large shopping centers on both sides of the street.

After identifying the suspects, authorities discovered that they were linked to several other thefts at retail stores in Southern California. The Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team took over the case, leading to the arrest of the suspects on May 13 at a residence in Jurupa Valley.

The suspects have been named as Thomas Balandran, 50, Sherri Alvarez, 48, and Brianna Balandran, 19. They have been charged with organised retail theft, burglary, conspiracy, and grand theft. A 17-year-old boy was also implicated in the crimes but has been released to a family member pending further investigation.

During the arrest, investigators conducted a search of the suspects’ home and found a large quantity of stolen merchandise with tags still attached. Additionally, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered on the premises.

Further searches in Moreno Valley uncovered an additional £3,000 worth of stolen goods. Authorities suspect that the adult suspects may have been involved in more thefts and are urging anyone with information to contact Deputy Christina Weber of the Southwest Station Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team on 951-696-3133.

Specific details about the stores targeted, their locations, and the types of merchandise stolen have not been disclosed by officials.
