On a fateful Saturday morning, tragedy struck near Singtam in Sikkim as a taxi carrying tourists veered off the road and fell into the Rani River, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The incident occurred as a family of five from Kolkata was en route from Siliguri to Gangtok, embarking on what should have been a picturesque journey through the scenic landscapes of Sikkim.
The victims of this unfortunate accident were identified as the taxi driver, whose name is yet to be disclosed, and 72-year-old Rabindra Nath Paul, a member of the family who was on board. The surviving passengers, including Tapas Paul (33), Krishna Paul (36), Mira Paul (60), and a four-year-old girl, were promptly rushed to the Central Referral Hospital in Gangtok for medical treatment after being initially treated at the district hospital in Singtam.
