A kindergarten teacher in Vietnam is currently facing public backlash after a video surfaced of her sitting on a five-year-old boy and forcing him to eat oranges. The incident has sparked outrage among parents and authorities in Ho Chi Minh City.
The teacher, identified as Lam Thi Bach Nga, owns the Ti Bo kindergarten where the incident took place on April 11. The security camera footage shows Lam hitting the boy before pushing him to the ground and sitting on top of him to make him eat the fruit.
The boy’s parents have expressed their concerns over the incident, claiming that their son now cries in his sleep and has been emotionally affected by the ordeal. The mother, Thanh Hong, was shocked and saddened upon seeing the video clip and admitted that her son has been restless and uneasy ever since.
In addition to the force-feeding incident, the video also captured the teacher punishing another boy in the classroom. She can be seen slapping his face and hitting his head with a plastic object as a form of discipline for breaking a toy.
Despite attempts by the teacher to offer compensation to the family of the five-year-old boy, they have refused to settle the matter. It remains unclear what consequences the teacher will face for her actions.
Following the public outcry, local authorities in Vietnam have ordered the suspension of the kindergarten’s operations. They have advised parents to consider transferring their children to alternative nurseries in light of the scandal.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of children in educational institutions and has prompted calls for stricter regulations and oversight in kindergartens across Vietnam.
