Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A recent surveillance operation conducted by the Yarmouth Police Department has resulted in the arrest of two individuals on drug-related charges in West Yarmouth. The operation, which involved detectives from the Yarmouth Police Department and members of the Proactive Anti-Crime Unit, was focused on monitoring activity around a residence on Reindeer Lane.

During the surveillance, officers observed 38-year-old Joseph Vittatoe of West Yarmouth engaging in suspicious behaviour consistent with drug transactions. Vittatoe was seen meeting with various individuals for short periods of time and entering and exiting the residence multiple times.

Events took a turn when a white sedan arrived at the location, and Vittatoe, carrying a black backpack, got into the vehicle with another individual, 39-year-old Adam St. Cyr of Hyannis. The sedan was subsequently stopped on Route 28 by officers.

Upon searching Vittatoe’s backpack, officers discovered crack cocaine along with $871 in cash. St. Cyr, who was already wanted on an outstanding warrant, was found to be in possession of additional cocaine and fentanyl hidden in his wallet.

During the booking process, Vittatoe began exhibiting signs of an overdose and confessed to ingesting fentanyl pills. He was promptly attended to by Yarmouth Fire/Rescue and taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

As a result of the incident, Vittatoe is currently facing charges of conspiracy to violate drug laws, distribution of a Class B substance, and possession of a Class B substance as a subsequent offence. On the other hand, St. Cyr has been charged with possession of a Class A substance, possession of a Class B substance, and the existing warrant against him.

These arrests serve as a reminder of the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related activities in the community. The Yarmouth Police Department remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents through proactive measures and vigilant surveillance operations.
