PORTLAND (CBS Newspath/KOIN/WKRC) – A man suspected as the person of interest in the deaths of several women, was indicted on Friday for the murder charges of three deaths.
Jesse Lee Calhoun has been accused of the murder of 24-year-old Charity Lynn Perry, 31-year-old Bridget Leanne Webster, and 32-year-old Joanna Speaks, as per the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
The charges brought against Calhoun include three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of second-degree abuse of a corpse.
These tragic events unfolded in 2023 when five women were discovered deceased within a span of three months. Law enforcement authorities have already established a potential connection between four of the deaths.
In addition to the aforementioned victims, 22-year-old Kristin Smith and 22-year-old Ashley Real were also identified as victims of these heinous crimes.
Investigations are currently underway to ascertain any possible link between the deaths of Smith and Real and the cases now associated with Calhoun, according to reports from KOIN.
Reflecting on the loss of her sister, one of Joanna Speaks’ siblings shared, “Her sense of humour will be sorely missed. She was truly vibrant and her children adored her beyond measure.”
Joanna Speaks was found murdered near an abandoned barn, having sustained fatal blunt-force injuries to her head and neck.
