Additional Charges Filed in St. Patrick’s Interparish School Case

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The case involving two former St. Patrick’s Interparish School employees, Christopher Charles Chell, 46, and Ryan Michael Clemens, 41, has taken a new turn with additional charges being filed.

Chell, who served as the Athletic Director and a Physical Education teacher at the school, was initially arrested on March 7 following a report from a middle school student alleging a romantic relationship with Chell. Clemens, the Assistant Principal, was arrested on March 13 for not reporting the relationship and failing to take action against Chell’s alleged behavior towards students.

Since then, new charges have been brought against both individuals, shedding more light on the allegations.

Original Charges

Documents reveal that Clemens had been working at the school for approximately 4.5 years before being promoted to Assistant Principal, with Chell then assuming the role of Athletic Director.

On February 20, a 7th-grade student reported to Clemens that Chell had made inappropriate advances towards another girl, suggesting a secret romantic relationship. Despite this, Clemens chose to handle the matter internally without involving the authorities.

Subsequent reports from employees and students confirmed Chell’s inappropriate behavior towards multiple students, which Clemens failed to address or report in a timely manner.

Additional Victims

Further investigations revealed multiple victims who had encounters with Chell, ranging from inappropriate comments to physical contact. Clemens, aware of these incidents, neglected to take appropriate action to protect the students.

One victim, a 10-year-old student, reported Chell touching her inappropriately during a school event, leading to charges of lewd conduct.

Another victim, an 11-year-old student, described Chell’s behavior as making all the girls uncomfortable, with instances of inappropriate touching and hugs.

Chell faced charges of solicitation of lewd conduct with a student by an authority figure and lewd/lascivious molestation in these cases.

Legal Proceedings

Chell was initially arrested on 10 counts of lewd/lascivious behavior and later faced additional charges, including solicitation of lewd conduct, lewd/lascivious molestation, and child abuse. He is currently held without bail pending trial.

Clemens, charged with child neglect and tampering with evidence, received additional charges of making false reports and failure to report suspected child abuse. He has yet to be booked on the new charges.

It is important to note that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
