CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. — (EYT) — A devastating two-vehicle collision on Route 322 in Clearfield County early Friday morning resulted in the untimely death of a local man.

The fatal incident took place on Rockton Mountain Highway (Route 322), in Union Township, Clearfield County, at approximately 1:27 a.m. on Friday, May 17, as reported by Clearfield-based State Police.

The victim, a 56-year-old man from Luthersburg whose identity has not been disclosed, was a passenger in a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 28-year-old Chicgo A. Callendar, also from Luthersburg.

According to authorities, Callendar’s vehicle was traveling eastbound when a deer suddenly appeared on the right side of the road. The collision with the deer caused the vehicle to veer out of control and cross into the path of a westbound 2013 Ford Edge driven by 34-year-old Jordan J. Fustine of DuBois.

The impact between the two vehicles occurred on the passenger side of Callendar’s car.

Tragically, neither Callendar nor his passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and the airbags did not deploy.

Regrettably, the passenger succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident, as confirmed by law enforcement officials.

Fustine and his passenger, 32-year-old Andrew C. Yohn from DuBois, were both wearing seat belts during the collision and suffered minor, unspecified injuries.

All three individuals involved in the crash—Callendar, Fustine, and Yohn—were promptly transported to Penn Highlands DuBois for medical treatment.
