WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – Indiana State Police (ISP) is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic fatal crash that occurred on Friday evening on State Road 114 in Whitley County.
The incident took place at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, in the east 6500 block of State Road 114 in Whitley County. According to ISP reports, a single passenger vehicle was involved in the crash, resulting in the death of a pedestrian identified as Carl W. Moehle, aged 83, from Roanoke.
Initial findings suggest that Moehle was standing in front of his residence on State Road 114 when a passenger vehicle approached and struck him. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Alison Harrison-Campbell, aged 39, from Huntington, reportedly tried to swerve left in an attempt to avoid the collision.
Tragically, Moehle was pronounced dead at the scene by the Whitley County Coroner. In accordance with legal procedures, Harrison-Campbell was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw, with results currently pending.
The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, with the final report set to be handed over to the Whitley County Prosecutor for further examination. The family of Carl W. Moehle has been notified of the incident.
