Tragedy Strikes in Uttarakhand: Himachal Pradesh Youth Drowns in Tons River, Haryana Youths Survive Car Accident in Dehradun
Vikasnagar: Two separate incidents in Uttarakhand have left residents shocked and saddened, with a young man from Himachal Pradesh losing his life in a tragic drowning accident while two youths from Haryana narrowly escaped death in a car mishap. The incidents occurred in Tons river near Lal Dhanan and on Chakrata Cantt Road in Dehradun district, respectively.
The first incident involved a 19-year-old youth from Himachal Pradesh, identified as Anurag Chauhan from Keylod. Anurag had travelled to Tons river to celebrate his birthday with friends when the unforeseen tragedy struck. While bathing in the river, he lost control and was swept away by the strong currents. Despite efforts by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) led by Suresh Tomar, Anurag’s body was recovered from the river.
In the second mishap, a car carrying two individuals from Haryana overturned on Chakrata Cantt Road. The vehicle, bearing the number HR33D 2017, veered out of control, leading to the accident. Fortunately, both passengers, identified as Praveen Chahal and Amit Rathi from Rohtak, Haryana, escaped with minor injuries. The prompt response of the SDRF and local authorities ensured the safety of the occupants.
