Palghar: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old woman has been taken into custody by the police for the alleged murder of her husband with an axe while he was asleep in their home in Wada taluka of Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The gruesome incident took place on May 8, and the victim has been identified as 26-year-old Ajay Raghunath Bochal.

Initially, after the discovery of the body, the wife, Anita, claimed that her husband was attacked by an unknown assailant during the night. Subsequently, a murder case was registered, and investigation teams were formed to apprehend the suspects, stated Inspector Datta Kindre of the Wada police station.

Due to the crime occurring within the confines of their residence with all family members present, determining the true perpetrator proved to be a challenging task. The police delved into the victim’s personal life to ascertain if there were any potential motives for the crime.

“Throughout the extensive questioning of family members, it was revealed that the victim harboured suspicions about his wife’s character, often accusing her of being involved with another man. This constant scrutiny and false accusations drove his wife to commit the heinous act of attacking him with an axe in the dead of night,” explained Inspector Kindre.

Following a thorough interrogation, the police proceeded to arrest the wife and present her before a magistrate, who remanded her into police custody for further investigation,” confirmed the official.
