A tragic incident occurred in Karachi on Friday evening as a teenage student, identified as 16-year-old Abdullah Mehmood, was found shot dead at a call centre in Liaquatabad. Mehmood, who lived near Jhanda Chowk, worked part-time at the call centre while studying.

According to the Super Market police, Mehmood had taken his matric exam earlier that day and had returned home before heading to the call centre behind Rehmania Masjid in Liaquatabad-2. It was at the call centre that he was discovered lying lifeless on the floor with a single bullet wound to his face. A pistol was also recovered from the scene.

Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi stated that the owner of the call centre informed the police that the pistol belonged to him but was kept locked in his office. The owner clarified that he was not present at the call centre when the incident took place as he was at his residence in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

The body of Abdullah Mehmood was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities, while the police launched an investigation to determine whether the shooting was a case of suicide or murder.

TTP Suspect Arrested by CTD

In a separate development, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) announced the arrest of a suspected militant linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The arrested individual, identified as Yousaf Khan but also known as Gul Yousaf, was apprehended during a raid on Manghopir Road.

The CTD spokesperson disclosed that Yousaf Khan confessed to being involved in various terrorist activities in South Waziristan, including a 2009 attack on the Frontier Corps (FC).

This tragic incident and the subsequent arrest highlight the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of citizens.
