RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A suspect who was found guilty of multiple charges in relation to a quadruple shooting on Nov. 12, 2021 at a convenience store in Richmond that tragically led to the deaths of two children has been given a sentence.

Zayon Everett, the convicted individual, received his sentence on Friday, May 17, for the following charges:

  • Two counts of first-degree murder — each carrying a sentence of 30 years with 10 years suspended
  • Aggravated malicious wounding — sentenced to 25 years with 18 years suspended
  • Malicious wounding — sentenced to 20 years with 15 years suspended
  • Attempted murder — sentenced to 10 years with seven years suspended
  • Maliciously shooting into a vehicle — sentenced to 10 years with 10 years suspended
  • Maliciously shooting from a vehicle — sentenced to 10 years with 10 years suspended

The incident took place on Nov. 12, 2021, at the O.M.G. Convenience Store located at the junction of Creighton Road and Nine Mile Road in Richmond’s East End. The shooting resulted in the tragic deaths of two young boys, aged 9 and 14. Additionally, two adults were critically wounded but managed to recover.

Four suspects, namely Kalah Mangram, Javon Pegram, Clintoine Baker, and Zayon Everett, were apprehended and charged in connection to the shooting.

Earlier this year on Jan. 10, Mangram was given a sentence of 55 years of active imprisonment as one of the shooters, while Pegram received a 47-year active incarceration term as the driver of the vehicle used in the shooting. Both individuals were found guilty on seven charges each related to the incident.

Baker is set to face a jury trial on May 21 at 10 a.m.
