A female suspect was apprehended by police along the Coquihalla Highway following multiple reports of a potentially stolen vehicle on Friday morning.

Incident Details

The sequence of events unfolded just before 9 a.m. on May 17 in the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 near Herrling Island. Hope RCMP was alerted to a “suspicious vehicle” in the area, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Despite efforts to intercept the vehicle in Hope, the driver managed to evade authorities. However, subsequent reports led officers to the Coquihalla Highway near the Great Bear Snowshed, where the vehicle came to a halt.

Police Response

Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed at least one individual fleeing from the stationary vehicle. A thorough search, which included the deployment of an Integrated Police Dog Service member, resulted in the arrest of a female passenger.

Sgt. Mike Sargent of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment emphasised that the investigation is ongoing, with police actively working to confirm whether the vehicle was indeed stolen.
