Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 34-year-old man from Palm Springs, Justin Val Miller, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison after pleading guilty to burglary and resisting or deterring an officer in separate cases. The sentencing took place as part of a plea arrangement with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to spokesperson John Hall.

Miller received a two-thirds sentence for the felony second-degree burglary charge and a one-third sentence for the case involving resisting or deterring an officer. Both sentences will be served consecutively.

Initially pleading not guilty to the burglary charge in September 2023, Miller’s case stemmed from an incident in August 2023. Residents in the 1300 block of Crystal Court in Palm Springs reported a suspicious individual jumping fences into their backyards in the early hours of the morning. The suspect, described as a man with tattoos on his arms, neck, and head, was seen walking with a limp.

Police responded to the reports and found that the same individual had been seen prowling in the 3200 block of Cambridge Court and the 2900 block of East Sonora Road. Despite their efforts, officers were unable to locate the suspect at either location.

Later that day, a resident in the 2900 block of East Sonora Road received an alert from their security camera system, showing the suspicious person entering their home. The Palm Springs Police Department confirmed a burglary had taken place, and the suspect had fled the scene.

Following an investigation, Justin Val Miller was identified as the suspect and apprehended in the 600 block of Canon Drive. He was subsequently booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
