Tucson Police have apprehended a 27-year-old man, Jesus Nicholas Hoyos, on charges of attempted sexual conduct with a minor, luring a minor for sexual exploitation, and aggravated luring of a minor. The arrest took place on May 9 following a sting operation conducted by law enforcement.
According to a statement released by the Tucson Police Department, the investigation began on May 7 when Jesus Nicholas Hoyos initiated communication with an individual he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. Unbeknownst to Hoyos, the person he was conversing with was an undercover police officer posing as a minor.
Over the course of the next two days, Hoyos engaged in explicit conversations with the decoy, discussing specific sexual acts he wished to engage in with the fictitious girl. Additionally, he allegedly shared nude images of himself with the individual he believed to be a minor.
Subsequently, Hoyos arranged to meet the supposed teenage girl at a local park with the intention of engaging in sexual activities. However, upon his arrival at the designated meeting spot, he was promptly apprehended by law enforcement officers.
The swift action taken by the Tucson Police Department highlights the importance of vigilance in safeguarding minors from potential predators. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals seeking to exploit vulnerable young individuals for their own gratification.
Jesus Nicholas Hoyos is currently in police custody, awaiting further legal proceedings as the investigation into his activities continues. The Tucson Police Department urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant and educate children about the risks of online interactions with strangers.
