Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Multnomah County, Oregon, grand jury has indicted a man on murder charges in connection with the deaths of three women, including one whose body was discovered in April 2023 near an abandoned barn in Ridgefield. Jesse Lee Calhoun, 39, faces three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of second-degree abuse of a corpse, according to prosecutors.

The victims have been identified as Joanna Speaks, 32, Charity Lynn Perry, 24, and Bridget Leanne Webster, 31. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has announced that Calhoun has been linked to their deaths.

The investigation began on April 8, 2023, when Clark County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to a report of a deceased person at 8004 S. Fifth St. in Ridgefield. The victim, later identified as Speaks, was found to have died from blunt head and neck injuries. The medical examiner ruled her death as a homicide, indicating that it resulted from another person’s deliberate actions.

Perry’s body was discovered on April 21, 2023, at Ainsworth State Park in east Multnomah County. She was known to frequent Vancouver. Webster was found on April 30, 2023, in Polk County, Oregon.

Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated on the investigation into the women’s deaths. Following the indictment, prosecutors have informed the families of the victims.

Investigators have also connected the deaths of Perry and Webster to those of Kristin Smith and Ashley Real. Smith, 22, was reported missing on December 22, 2022, and her body was found on February 19, 2023, in Southeast Portland. Real, 22, was discovered on May 7, 2023, in Clackamas County. Calhoun has not been charged in their deaths, which are still under investigation.

Calhoun is currently incarcerated at the Snake River Correctional Institution in Eastern Oregon on unrelated charges. He will be transferred to Multnomah County for arraignment. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has expressed its commitment to seeking justice for the victims and their families.
