A devastating incident has rocked a family in South Carolina, as a 3-year-old child tragically lost her life after a birdbath fell on top of her. The toddler, identified as Jasmine Denise Mickell, was pronounced dead on Mother’s Day, May 12, according to a case report filed by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
Details of the Incident
The report lists her suspected cause of death as “blunt force injury to abdomen with a suspected manner of Accident.” Deputies from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after receiving reports that Mickell “was crushed by a bird bath.” However, upon arrival, they found the family with the child in the middle of the road.
First responders immediately began life-saving measures, including compressions, but unfortunately, their efforts were not successful. Mickell was then transported to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, where she was pronounced dead.
Community Support
As the community mourns the loss of young Jasmine, a GoFundMe page has been set up to support the family in this difficult time. The fundraiser, organised by Kayla Wyatt, aims to help the family recover from this devastating loss. The campaign has already raised almost $600 of its $1,000 goal.
“JAZZY brought joy to anyone that she met. Even though she was only here for a short time, the impact that she had on people will never be forgotten. She loved honey grahams, candy, swimming, and trips to the park,” an obituary for Mickell stated.
Family and Funeral Arrangements
Jasmine is survived by her parents, Alex Baxter and Brianna Jazmine Mickell, as well as five siblings. Celebration of life services will be held in her honour at the Gloverville Community Park on Sunday, May 19, and at the Langley Pond Recreation Area on Sunday, May 26.
