The victim, a 26-year-old, had travelled to Manali with the accused, Vinod, who hails from Palwal district, Haryana. The shocking discovery was made late Wednesday when the hotel staff grew suspicious of Vinod’s behaviour and alerted the local authorities.
Upon arrival, the police conducted a thorough search of the hotel premises and made a gruesome discovery – the body of the deceased was found in the trunk of a taxi parked at the hotel. The victim’s body had been wrapped in a bag, and Vinod was attempting to leave the hotel with it when he was caught.
The police revealed that the pair had checked into the hotel on May 13 and had been staying there since. A case has been registered under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, and Vinod has been taken into custody for further questioning. Deputy Superintendent of Police KD Sharma confirmed the arrest and stated, “The hotel manager alerted the police around 7.50 pm, and we acted promptly upon receiving the information.”
Authorities have informed the family of the deceased, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
