A tragic incident occurred in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur on Wednesday, where a 45-year-old woman lost her life at the hands of her own son. The police report revealed that the victim, Vaddi Sunkamma, was brutally attacked by her son, Vaddi Venkatesh, in their residence in the Kambadur area.
The motive behind this heinous crime was a family feud that escalated into a fatal confrontation. It was reported that Sunkamma had a quarrel with her husband, which triggered Venkatesh’s violent outburst. In a fit of rage, he struck his mother with an iron rod, causing fatal injuries that led to her tragic demise.
Following the brutal attack, Venkatesh fled from the scene, leaving behind a grieving family and a shocked community. The local authorities swiftly responded to the incident by registering a case against the accused under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. A manhunt was launched to apprehend the perpetrator and bring him to justice.
This disturbing incident is not the first of its kind in the region. In a similar case last year in June, a woman was mercilessly murdered on a flyover in Vijayawada by her son-in-law. The perpetrator, identified as Rajesh, committed the heinous act as a response to his mother-in-law, Nagamani, allegedly supporting his wife’s decision to seek a divorce.
Vijayawada West ACP Hanumantha Rao stated to a news agency, “It was a murder committed by the son-in-law, and the deceased person is his mother-in-law. A divorce petition is pending before the court.”
