TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Leon County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a man arrested in connection to a recent fentanyl trafficking case in Tallahassee has died while being evaluated at a local hospital.

The man, identified as 36-year-old Taurean Clark, was seen by a medical service provider at the Leon County jail on Tuesday before being transported to a hospital for further evaluation and care. The hospital where he was taken has not been named by officials.

Clark passed away around 12:40 p.m. the following day, with the cause of his death remaining unclear. In a press release, LCSO stated, “Based on the preliminary investigation, there are no signs of foul play.”

Clark was one of six individuals arrested last week in connection to a fentanyl trafficking investigation. According to court documents obtained by WCTV, Clark was accused of purchasing over two pounds of fentanyl with another suspect named Josh Washington. The Drug Enforcement Agency has highlighted that such a large quantity of fentanyl could potentially be lethal to 500,000 individuals.
