A tragic incident has struck the quiet town of Sigowet-Soin in Kericho County, as a 30-year-old woman named Sheila Chepkoech has been found dead by suspected suicide.
According to reports from the local police, Chepkoech’s lifeless body was discovered hanging by the neck in her home’s compound. It is believed that she used a mosquito net to carry out the tragic act.
Her sister-in-law, who was the first to witness the heartbreaking scene, attempted to save her but unfortunately, Chepkoech had already passed away.
Police Commander Peter Nthiga confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to Chepkoech taking her own life.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to the mortuary at Sigowet Sub County Hospital for further examination.
Nthiga urged families in the region, especially young couples, to seek counselling and support when facing difficulties in their relationships. He highlighted a recent increase in reports of domestic violence cases in the area, emphasizing the importance of addressing marital issues before they escalate to such tragic outcomes.
“Marital problems are a reality that cannot be ignored. Seeking help and guidance when needed is crucial in preventing such devastating incidents,” Nthiga advised.
