Accident – Death – Obituary News : An explosion of high intensity rocked a madarsa in Bihar’s Saran district late on Wednesday, resulting in the tragic death of an imam and leaving a 15-year-old student injured, as confirmed by the police on Thursday. Saran superintendent of police, Gaurav Mangla, reported that the incident occurred in the Motirajpur locality under the jurisdiction of the Garkha police station. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Imamuddin from Olhanpur village, while the injured student hails from Muzaffarpur. Unfortunately, the Imam succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The police investigation revealed that the explosion was triggered by an item resembling a ball that the young boy found near the madarsa and handed over to the Imam, resulting in the blast. Initial findings suggest the presence of gunpowder or explosives at the blast site. Olhanpur has gained notoriety for its illegal firecracker production, and the explosion was so powerful that it could be heard by residents living a kilometer away, according to Mohammad Iqbal, a local resident near the Garkha police station.
Locals informed the authorities that the Imam was involved in the manufacturing of firecrackers within the madarsa premises. Mangla disclosed that a team of forensic experts and a canine unit are currently examining the site to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Additionally, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate all possible angles.
In response to the incident, the police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 286 (negligent conduct with respect to an explosive substance) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, against unidentified individuals.
