Arthur Jones, 38, is wanted on robbery and aggravated assault charges following an assault and robbery incident involving a Philadelphia officer on the 2100 block of West Oxford Street in North Philadelphia on Sunday morning.

According to law enforcement officials, the altercation began when Dennis attacked the off-duty officer after the officer honked his horn while stuck in traffic behind another vehicle on Oxford Avenue on May 12.

Dennis reportedly punched the officer in the face while he was still inside his vehicle. The officer then exited his car and identified himself as a member of the police force. Subsequently, Dennis brandished a firearm and engaged in a physical struggle with the officer. At this point, another individual, now identified as 24-year-old Yusef Coleman, approached the officer from behind and placed him in a headlock.

A scuffle ensued over Coleman’s weapon, but the officer managed to push it away. During the altercation, a magazine fell out of the firearm, and the officer discharged a round. Fortunately, no one sustained injuries from the discharged round.

Coleman was taken into custody on May 13 and is facing charges of criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, and other related offences.

Following the discharge of the weapon, Dennis allegedly aimed a gun at the officer and demanded its release. The officer’s firearm was then stolen from his holster, and he was subjected to physical assault by multiple assailants. A firearm was later recovered by authorities on May 14, although they did not specify the owner of the weapon.

The crowd dispersed and the suspects fled the scene upon the arrival of an on-duty officer. Coleman departed in a black BMW, striking the off-duty officer’s leg in the process. The BMW was subsequently located and seized by law enforcement.

The injured off-duty officer was transported to Temple University Hospital for medical treatment, where he received care for a black eye, facial bruises, and a leg injury.

The veteran of the Philadelphia police force, who has served for nine years and is assigned to the 22nd District, will be placed on administrative leave during his recovery period. Authorities have indicated that he will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
