Accident – Death – Obituary News : A middle-school headteacher in Alabama was one of four individuals arrested in connection with a decade-old triple homicide in Georgia, authorities revealed on Friday.

Keante Harris, aged 45, was taken into custody on three counts of malice murder in relation to the murders that occurred in Union City, Georgia, in January 2013, as stated by the Clayton County Police Department.

Harris, who serves as an assistant principal at McAdory Middle School in Jefferson County, Alabama, was put on administrative leave following his arrest, as reported by WBMA-TV.

The investigation into the case began 11 years ago when a police patrol in Union City stumbled upon a 2010 Dodge Charger abandoned near Interstate 85.

Inside the vehicle, officers discovered three deceased individuals who had been tortured and murdered in Clayton County before their bodies were dumped in Fulton County.

The victims were identified as Quinones King, aged 33, Rodney Cottrell, aged 43, and Cheryl Colquitt-Thompson, aged 32.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that King and Cottrell died from asphyxiation in the back seat of the Dodge Charger, while Colquitt-Thompson was found in the trunk of the car deceased from strangulation, according to FOX5 Atlanta.

The victims were reportedly lured to a residence on Magnolia Drive in Jonesboro, Georgia, where they were forcibly taken inside at gunpoint. Subsequently, they were loaded into the back of the Dodge Charger and driven to Fulton County, where their bodies were disposed of.

Three other men – Kevin Harris, Kenneth Thompson, and Darrell Harris – were also apprehended without incident and charged with three counts each of malice murder.

The arrests were made across three different states, with no confirmation on whether the three individuals with the last name Harris are related.

The Jefferson County School District issued a statement on Friday acknowledging Keante Harris’s arrest and his placement on administrative leave.

“At this time, we are still in the process of gathering information about the specifics of this situation,” the statement obtained by WBMA-TV read. “However, initial indications suggest that the charges are not connected to this individual’s role within Jefferson County Schools.”

The shocking development has left the community reeling as they come to terms with the alleged involvement of a respected educator in such a heinous crime. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough investigations to bring closure to families affected by cold cases..
