2. Suspect apprehended in Warren murder.
Accident – Death – Obituary News :
Police in Warren have apprehended a suspect in connection with the city’s fourth homicide of the year, as reported in a recent press release. Gabriel Hendrix, aged 44 and residing on Westwood Drive, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday near the intersection of Lovers Lane NW and Caleb Road NW. Following questioning by detectives, Hendrix has been charged with murder and is currently being held in Trumbull County jail.
The victim, identified as Andrew Warner, was discovered by a family member around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 1300 block of Westwood Drive NW. The relative informed emergency services that they found Warner on a couch in the living room, noting that he appeared “very cold” and “black and blue.” She mentioned that she had come to check on him as she had last seen him on Monday.
According to a police report, investigators have indicated that Warner’s death may have resulted from a physical altercation that escalated. The report also mentioned the consumption of drugs and alcohol in relation to the incident.
Prior to this arrest, Hendrix had previous run-ins with the law, including an OVI offense in Newton Falls and a domestic violence charge in Warren dating back to 2012. These charges are listed as additional offenses on the county jail website.
Of note is the proximity of this latest homicide to the three previous incidents this year, all occurring within a 4-mile radius. The first of these was the shooting death of Howard Dorsey, aged 35, at 1028 Lovers Lane, for which no arrests have been made. The city’s third homicide claimed the life of 21-year-old Nathaniel Bradley at Park Place 24 Tavern on Parkman Road NW, with the suspect, Zaa Von Hameed, later apprehended in Columbus by U.S. Marshals.
Earlier in the year, on March 2, the city witnessed its first homicide of 2024 when 33-year-old Jonte Davis was fatally shot in the 600 block of Olive Avenue NE while carrying out his duties as a postal worker. To date, this case remains unsolved by authorities.
