Corey Stasanko tragically dies while working on storm drain
Corey Stasanko, a former Rutgers wrestler and owner of his own landscaping business, met a tragic end while working on a storm drain on his employer’s property in Kenilworth. Stasanko, 29, fell into a hole on May 6 and was found trapped in concrete and mud. Despite efforts to rescue him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Champion wrestler and proud homeowner
Stasanko, a graduate of South Plainfield High School and Rutgers University, was a champion wrestler with an impressive high school record. He was a four-time district and county champion, compiling a 152-17 career record. Stasanko also wrestled for the Scarlet Knights men’s wrestling team during his time at Rutgers.
Described as a “proud homeowner” in his obituary, Stasanko lived in Cranford and ran his own company, Stasenko Landscaping & Hardscaping. His funeral took place on Tuesday, marking a somber farewell to a talented athlete and entrepreneur.
