ATLANTA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released the identity of the man who shot three Atlanta police officers over the weekend. Claudy Pierre Jules, 41, was fatally shot by officers after a confrontation on Saturday in southwest Atlanta.
According to investigators, the incident unfolded when 911 callers reported a man, later identified as Jules, walking around the area with a gun. Upon arrival at the scene on Desoto Ave. SW, officers encountered Jules, who was armed with a knife and a gun.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Scheirbaum stated that officers attempted to subdue Jules, leading to a struggle that culminated in shots being fired. One of the officers managed to tackle Jules after he brandished his gun, prompting the others to open fire when they heard what they believed to be a gunshot.
As a result of the altercation, three officers sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. Fortunately, all three officers are expected to make a full recovery, with two of them undergoing surgery and still hospitalized as of the latest update.
Officer Updates
Officer Jason Hodge, who was treated at the hospital and released on Sunday, has been recovering well. However, Officers Darien Tabor and Charles Smith are still in the hospital, with Smith scheduled for another surgical procedure.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the events leading up to the confrontation. The GBI is collaborating with the Atlanta Police Department to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the sequence of events that transpired.
