Arrest and Recovery

Police were able to track down Collins in Abilene, Texas, where he was apprehended after carjacking an Uber driver. The 10-month-old baby, Eleia Maria Torres, was found unharmed in the backseat of the Uber. Meanwhile, the 5-year-old who was shot in the head is currently recovering in a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

Legal Proceedings

A federal judge has ruled that Collins be extradited to New Mexico to face charges related to the crimes. While a court date has not yet been set, Collins will remain in custody with U.S. Marshals as he awaits trial.
