The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has officially identified the individual who tragically lost their life in the collision involving a Missoula County sheriff’s deputy on Highway 93, located south of Lolo on Tuesday. The deceased has been named as 81-year-old Gaylord Angst from Florence. Following the incident, Angst’s body was promptly transferred to the Montana State Medical Examiner’s Office for a thorough examination.
In response to the request from the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office has extended their assistance in the coroner investigation. The Montana Highway Patrol has taken the reins in investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

In the vicinity of Lolo, Montana, both northbound lanes of Highway 93 have been temporarily closed due to the severity of the fatal crash. The Montana Department of Transportation reported the exact location of the incident to be 3.50 miles south of Junction US 12 West-Lolo, at mile-marker 80, as per their reliable 511 road report map.
