Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A Nigerian national, Faith Chiemerie, was recently apprehended in Goa on charges of drug trafficking. The 24-year-old had initially arrived in India under the guise of pursuing higher education at the University of Lucknow. However, instead of heading to Uttar Pradesh, she diverted her journey to Bengaluru, where she allegedly became involved in the illegal drug trade.

Chiemerie was caught by the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) in possession of amphetamine and ganja with a total value of Rs 15.10 lakh. The ANC identified her as a key player in a drug distribution network operating in the region.

Superintendent of Police (ANC) Akshat Kaushal revealed during a press conference that Chiemerie was apprehended near Green Park Hotel in Mapusa, Goa. She was found with 150 gms of amphetamine, worth Rs 15 lakh, and 100 gms of ganja, valued at Rs 10,000.

Kaushal stated, “Chiemerie was a crucial link in the drug supply chain to Goa. By apprehending her, we have disrupted the flow of drugs into the state.”

The SP explained how Chiemerie had deceived authorities by misusing her student visa to stay in India and conduct illicit activities. Despite claiming to be a student at the University of Lucknow, she never enrolled in the institution and instead engaged in drug trafficking.

Following a tip-off, Chiemerie was intercepted at a bus stop in Goa, where the illicit substances were seized for further investigation. The ANC is collaborating with authorities in Karnataka to track down the buyers and suppliers involved.

While an FIR has been filed, ANC officials are currently interrogating Chiemerie for more information on the case. Kaushal highlighted the ANC’s comprehensive approach to combating drug-related crimes and their efforts to raise awareness in educational institutions to protect vulnerable individuals, especially the youth, from the dangers of substance abuse.
