Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Law enforcement officials in Georgia have taken steps to enhance security measures at a local Target store in response to a series of reported assaults against customers within the premises.

The incidents took place at the Target store located on Scenic Highway in Snellville, which is situated approximately 30 miles away from Atlanta.

Confirming the situation, Snellville Police Detective J. Manley stated in an interview with USA TODAY that the department has escalated patrols and intensified officer presence in the area, particularly in the parking lot, to ensure a prompt response if needed.

These measures have been implemented following three recent incidents where women were targeted while shopping at the popular retail chain.

When approached for additional comments, Target was unavailable for immediate response.

Victim Recounts Alleged Assault Inside Store

One of the reported incidents took place in late March, when an officer responded to the store following a report of sexual assault. The victim claimed that an unknown male individual had touched her genitals and then hastily fled the scene, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY.

Describing the encounter, the victim stated that the man, who was wearing a camo hat, blue shirt, and khaki shorts, approached her in the grocery section under the pretense of pointing out a stain on her skirt. Subsequently, she alleged that the man proceeded to touch her genitals. Upon her outcry, the man swiftly departed from the area.

Footage from a body camera shared by WSB-TV captured the ensuing confrontation between the officer and the suspect, identified as Devon Thomas. The suspect attempted to flee but was eventually apprehended and charged with obstruction and sexual battery.

Thomas claimed the incident was a misunderstanding.

Additional Incidents of Inappropriate Behaviour

In a separate incident on May 1, a female customer reported that an individual was surreptitiously recording and photographing her while she was in a fitting room trying on clothes.

Through the use of facial recognition software, law enforcement officers were able to identify the suspect as Josue Gomez. Subsequent investigations revealed that Gomez had been following women around the store and covertly pointing his phone towards them without their consent.

Gomez was taken into custody and charged with various offences related to invasion of privacy and voyeurism.

In another distressing incident, a male suspect was accused of recording a woman in a bathroom stall with her child. Upon being confronted, the suspect fled the scene, and investigations are currently ongoing. The suspect remains at large, as reported by Fox 5 Atlanta.
