Phoenix (AZFamily) – Authorities have taken a suspect into custody following a shooting incident that occurred late Tuesday night in central Phoenix.
Shortly before midnight, an officer in the vicinity of 15th Avenue and Fillmore Street heard the sound of gunshots. Responding swiftly, the officer discovered a male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Eye-witnesses at the scene provided crucial information to law enforcement, leading them to a suspect identified as 20-year-old Brian Morales. When approached by officers, Morales attempted to evade capture by fleeing on foot and discarding his firearm. Despite his efforts to escape, Morales was apprehended by a team of officers shortly thereafter.
Officials have indicated that Morales will face a series of charges, including aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons. The firearm allegedly used in the shooting was recovered at the scene by police personnel.
