LONDON, UK (London News First) – In a heartbreaking turn of events, authorities in Paulding County have announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the fatal shooting of 11-year-old Zander Whatley.

Zander, a bright 5th-grade student at Hal Hutchens Elementary School, tragically lost his life when he was struck by gunfire at his family home on Ruth Way at around 11 p.m. on Monday, April 30.

According to Whatley’s family, the incident unfolded after one of his older brothers became involved with a dangerous group, leading to the family being targeted. A group of young men reportedly arrived at the Whatley residence and opened fire from outside.

Heartbroken mother Shareeda Dorsey revealed that her son was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire as he tried to seek refuge upstairs. Tragically, Zander succumbed to his injuries despite desperate attempts to save him at a nearby hospital, as confirmed by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

The authorities have identified 18-year-old Osman Sesay Jr. as a suspect in the shooting. Sesay was apprehended on May 11 during a routine traffic stop in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is set to be extradited to the UK to face charges.

In a bid to bring all responsible parties to justice, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the United States Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, are actively pursuing two other suspects linked to the case: 19-year-olds Al-Hamid Ibrahim Kuyateh and Nazier Lloyd Anderson.

Authorities have issued a warning that Kuyateh and Anderson are armed and dangerous. Members of the public are advised not to approach them under any circumstances but to immediately contact emergency services by dialing 999.
