Accident – Death – Obituary News :

PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) – A Riverview man, Vincent Steele, has formally entered a plea of not guilty in connection with a road rage shooting incident that occurred in Palmetto. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Department has charged Steele, aged 50, with five counts of attempted murder after he allegedly fired multiple shots into a vehicle during the altercation.

Details of the Incident

The incident unfolded as the occupants of a pick-up truck were travelling north on Business U.S. 41, where it merges with U.S. 41. It was at this juncture that the driver of a BMW sedan, later identified as Steele, attempted to overtake the victim’s truck in the merge lane. Unfortunately, Steele’s rear bumper made contact with the victim’s front bumper, causing him to lose control and spin off into the grassy shoulder in the 6900 block of US 41.

According to statements from an independent witness, Steele exited his vehicle and ran up to the victim’s passenger door, firing seven rounds at the truck. A 36-year-old pregnant female passenger, who was expecting twins, was struck multiple times in the lower torso during the altercation.

Upon realising that his fiancée had been injured, the driver of the pick-up truck promptly drove her to Manatee Memorial Hospital. Fortunately, neither of the unborn babies were harmed in the incident. The injured woman was later transferred to Tampa General Hospital for surgery, and both she and the unborn babies are currently in stable condition.

The driver of the truck, aged 57, and a 9-year-old female passenger escaped unscathed from the ordeal. Vincent Steele cooperated with deputies at the scene and was subsequently arrested.

Legal Proceedings

A bond hearing for Steele has been rescheduled to May 24, as the investigation into the road rage shooting incident continues. The authorities are working diligently to ensure justice is served in this case.

The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any instances of road rage or aggressive driving to law enforcement authorities promptly.
