Accident – Death – Obituary News :

After decades of haunting the community, the man accused of sexually assaulting women at a Framingham department store in the 1980s has finally been identified. Stephen Paul Gale, 71, has been charged in connection with the 34-year-old rape case at the Hit or Miss Store, according to a recent announcement by the police.

The U.S. Marshals Service has offered a reward of up to £5,000 for information leading to Gale’s arrest. The charges he faces include four counts of aggravated rape, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of armed robbery of two women who were assaulted over three decades ago.

The incident took place on December 27, 1989, when a white man, now identified as Gale, entered the department store on Route 9 in the morning. Armed with a .357 Magnum handgun, he forced two female employees to the back of the store, where he proceeded to commit the heinous acts.

After collecting evidence and obtaining the suspect’s DNA, a DNA profile was developed and uploaded to the CODIS database in 2001. Despite efforts, there were no hits identifying the suspect until two years ago when investigators turned to Parabon Nanolabs for help with investigative genetic genealogy.

Through DNA samples obtained from Gale’s family members, there was enough probable cause to identify him, leading to the recent arrest warrant. Middlesex DA Marian Ryan commended the collaborative effort across law enforcement agencies that contributed to this breakthrough in the case.

Gale is known to have used multiple aliases and has ties to various states, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Utah, and Florida. He has previously been linked to organised crime and is described as 5’11” tall, weighing around 200 pounds.

Framingham Police Chief Lester Baker expressed gratitude towards the victims for their bravery and perseverance throughout the years. He acknowledged the impact of the crime on the community and reassured that efforts to locate Gale are ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding Gale’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Framingham Police Department or the U.S. Marshals Boston Tipline. Tips can also be submitted through the USMS Tips App for those who prefer to remain anonymous.
