On Monday, May 13, 2024, a suspected drug dealer was apprehended in a successful drug bust operation in San Rafael, Iloilo. The arrest took place at 7:45 p.m. in Barangay Calaigang, San Rafael, Iloilo, where authorities detained a 29-year-old man known as alias Piolo, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, Dumarao, Capiz. Piolo is considered a high-value individual (HVI) by the police.
During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated approximately 130 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P884,000. In addition to the illegal drugs, other incriminating evidence was also seized from the suspect.
Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, the officer-in-charge of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (Ippo), commended the personnel involved in the successful drug bust. He praised their unwavering dedication and commitment to upholding peace and order in Iloilo Province.
Razalan stated, “The apprehension of this suspect and the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal drugs constitute a significant setback to drug trafficking activities in the province and the surrounding region. This buy-bust operation, coupled with our recent achievements in other anti-drug campaigns, underscores the relentless determination of the Ilonggo police force to combat the scourge of illegal drugs in our communities.”
Currently, Piolo is being held in custody at the San Rafael Municipal Police Station, awaiting the filing of charges for violating Republic Act 9165, more commonly known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This successful operation reflects the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies in the region to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs and protect the welfare of the community. The police remain vigilant in their pursuit of justice and the eradication of illicit drug activities.
