Miguel Mozo-Hernandez : “Teen Fatally Stabs Brother: Sheriff’s Department Investigates”

ENCINITAS, CA — In a tragic incident in northern San Diego County, a teenage boy has been arrested for fatally stabbing his older brother, according to authorities.

The 17-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed his 19-year-old brother at around 10:11 p.m. on Saturday in the 300 block of Sprucewood Drive in Encinitas. The altercation between the siblings took place in the front yard of their home, leading to the fatal stabbing.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim, identified as Miguel Mozo-Hernandez of Encinitas, with a stab wound to his abdomen. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

An autopsy conducted on Monday confirmed that the cause of death was a stab wound to the abdomen, ruling the manner of death as a homicide, as stated by Lt. Michael Krugh.

Following the incident, the assailant was apprehended approximately half a mile away from the scene. The teenager was taken into custody on suspicion of homicide and placed in Juvenile Hall.

Investigations into the motive and circumstances surrounding the crime are ongoing, as confirmed by Krugh. However, there are no additional suspects at large, and no immediate threat to the community has been identified.
