Following the arrest of a South Korean suspect in the murder case involving the disposal of a man’s body in a barrel in a Pattaya reservoir, authorities are actively seeking to locate the remaining two suspects.

The suspect, a man in his twenties whose identity has not been disclosed by South Korean police, has denied any involvement in the crime after being apprehended in South Korea.

Pol Maj Gen Theeradet Thumsuthee, an investigation chief with the Metropolitan Police Bureau, has identified the detained individual as Lee Roun.

According to a report by Yonhap news agency, the man refuted the allegations during questioning on Monday night. However, South Korean authorities are planning to seek a formal arrest warrant for him.

The suspect was captured at his residence in Jeongeup, a city in North Jeolla province in southwestern South Korea, after returning from Thailand the previous week. His movements were tracked by South Korean police through surveillance camera footage.

Collaborating with Thai officials, South Korean authorities are now working to locate the two remaining suspects who are currently at large.

The trio is suspected of being involved in the murder of a man believed to be Roh Eui Jong, a South Korean national who was reported missing on May 3. The victim was allegedly kidnapped by the three individuals identified as South Koreans.

Law enforcement agencies are awaiting DNA comparison results from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital, using samples obtained from the victim’s elder sister and father to confirm his identity.

The suspects were traced through CCTV footage showing them transporting the victim in a rented pickup truck with a large plastic barrel to the Map Prachan reservoir in Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri, near Pattaya.

Security camera recordings from May 3 captured one of the suspects purchasing a similar barrel from a plasticware shop. Subsequently, the barrel was dropped into the reservoir on May 5, filled with concrete and containing the victim’s body.
